New testing protocol for Gynecologists: ‘We are very concerned’

New tests are being put in place for gynecologists across the state.

The New York State Department of Health said it was working with the Department of Family Medicine and Health Services to implement a new test that’s been approved by the state’s Board of Supervisors.

It is expected to take at least four weeks to complete, according to the department.

The test includes a blood sample from a woman’s cervix and is meant to help doctors spot any cancerous cells, such as those in the uterus or ovaries.
