India: Woman is allegedly accused of uploading intimate photos of her daughter to the Internet article A woman in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh has been arrested for sharing intimate photos to a friend, allegedly in a bid to raise money for a blind gynecology surgery.

The woman, identified only as Nandi, reportedly went to her mother’s home on Thursday to buy groceries.

When she arrived, the woman allegedly asked Nandi if she could take photos of herself, saying she wanted to take the pictures to send to her sister.

“She went back home and took pictures of her face and neck with her phone and then shared the photos on WhatsApp,” police told NDTV.

The alleged actions of the woman, who is from the eastern city of Ahmedabad, have sparked outrage and led to calls for her arrest and prosecution.

Nandi, a doctor, was arrested and sent to jail for 10 days.

The woman was also charged with violating section 354 of the Indian Penal Code for allegedly uploading a private photograph without permission of the victim, police said.
